For years I have been using numerous vibration devices to stimulate the vagus nerve as an adjunct to transcutaneous auricular (electrical) vagus nerve stimulation. Now we see that researchers are picking up the baton and running with the idea. Turns out, it does work. The reason vibration works in the auricular pathway is that the receptors are specific to this type of stimulation. Electrical stimulation is actually perceived as vibration so may be completely unnecessary. Check out this study:
